 HR Specialist (application deadline 5/14/21)

We are seeking an HR Specialist who will work as a part-time contractor to set up HR systems for IPS. The HR specialist will be responsible for the day to day management of human resources operations within IPS including, but not limited to:
  • Manage administration of policies and procedures
  • Develop and oversee database management procedures and record maintenance
  • Manage staff recruiting and staffing logistics
  • Oversee employee application process
  • Manage payroll
  • Develop and manage employee recognition and rewards
  • Organize, schedule, and implement new employee orientation
  • Develop and manage employee records
  • Develop and manage benefits program
  • Develop and manage training and development

Director of Development (application deadline 5/14/21)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Development (DD) is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of the Institute of Public Scholarship’s fundraising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns.  The DD works closely with The Executive Director, the Director of Education, and the Board of Directors in all development and fundraising endeavors.  A new position in the organization, the DD will have the opportunity to build the development functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must embrace the mission of the Institute of Public Scholarship
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree (required). Master’s (a plus)
  • Have 5 years minimum experience in professional fundraising
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Have experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.
  • Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members, and other volunteers.
  • Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.
  • Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
  • Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals.
  • Be responsive
  • Be a creative problem solver
  • Be equity focused
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Develop and implement a fundraising strategy for the Institute of Public Scholarship.
  2. Plan and evaluate fundraising campaigns and activities.
  3. Manage the organization’s budget and fundraising income programs.
  4. Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them.
  5. Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors.
  6. Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
  7. Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.
  8. Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.
  9. Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.
  10. Coordinate fundraising special events.
  11. Direct employee fundraising drives.
  12. Oversee prospect research.
  13. Work closely with the Executive Director, Education Director, and Board of Directors to meet fundraising goals.
  14. Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about the Institute of Public Scholarship with the community.
  15. Coordinate and oversee Board Development Committee meetings.
  16. Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
  17. Supervise and collaborate with other fundraising staff.
  18. Answer donor and staff inquiries in a timely fashion.
  19. Communicate with donors and staff via email, phone, and social media.
  20. Oversee creation of publications to support fund raising activities.
  21. Maintain gift recognition programs.
  22. Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
  23. Perform other related duties as requested.
